HISTORY:

Cast Tec has its origins back in 1983 buying, selling and restoring original cast-iron fireplaces using the family 'dip and strip' business premises on Tyneside as a base.

In 1984 a retail shop unit was opened in Camden Lock, Camden Town called the Victorian Fireplace Company which operated for 15 years.

In 1987 the restoration side of the business moved to a factory unit in Washington, Tyne and Wear and a retail showroom soon followed in 1989 called Grate Expectations which also operated for 15 years.

Towards the late 1990's, however, it was becoming increasingly apparent that to obtain enough supply to meet demand for cast-iron fireplaces, reproductions would have to be considered. This change in direction from refurbished antique to mass reproduction heralded the beginning of Cast Tec as a major supplier to the trade.

Cast Tec would go on to supply the fireplace and heating industry with cast-iron fireplaces and mantels, not only as faithful reproductions, but new contemporary designs focusing on efficiency and user friendliness. These innovations have helped to maintain the popularity of the cast-iron fire into the twenty first century.

Cast Tec are responsible for establishing several product ranges within the fireplace industry including the launch of the exclusive Integra Collection of efficient gas fires in 2003 and the arrival of the Firemaster solid fuel brand in 2005.

2006 saw an exciting move for the staff of Cast Tec Ltd. to a new 30,000 sq ft. factory premises inside the Port Of Tyne in South Shields where they have access to the Port's outstanding facilities.
